8 Tips to Look Good on Your Pre Wedding Photoshoot
As professional wedding photographers, we’ve had the privilege of helping many couples documenting the moments that define their relationship, all the way leading up to their wedding day.
We’ve also have witnessed the vast personalities of different brides and grooms - from anxious to sanguine. Repeatedly, our couples ask us for tips to prepare for the pre-wedding shoots. So here we go:
1. Follow the Memo 📝
What memo you’d say?
Typically we share a memo for our brides and grooms. This comes with a solid list of do's and don'ts which guide the preparation and the entire process of the wedding shoot.
2. Rest Well, Not Just the Night Before
Ladies would know best the impact of sleep on the complexion. So this goes out to all the men as well. But a good complexion will take a bit more investment into resting early. Lack of sleep especially worsens sensitive skin conditions, especially eczema.
While Photoshop is cool at salvaging every photo situation, I’m pretty sure we can all agree that all natural photos are simply amazing.
Even more than that, a good night’s sleep will help lift your energy level and good spirits so you can thoroughly enjoy the shoot with your loved one. So give that Korean drama a rest so you get to look like a queen. Kings - you can certainly afford a well-deserved rest from work.
3. Be Light-hearted and Open 😇
Every couple’s love journey is unique. Each truly tested relationship has its fair share of highs and lows. During the initial introduction, we’ll typically zoom in onto moments or settings that bear special significance for every couple.
Depending on your partner and your love language, certain objects or experiences may invoke strong feelings of love and intimacy. It could be a special stuffed toy, a rainy day bus stop where both of you met, or the school library both of you stole shy glances at each other.
Let us into your beautifully woven love story and count on us to extract beautiful pre-wedding photos.
4. Exercise and Boost Your Confidence 🤽🏻♀️⛹🏻♀️🚴🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️
Let’s face it - a regular exercise regime and diet may not be sustainable for all of us. But love (and looking good) can be a huge motivator. More than a slimmer and buffer physique, regular workouts also raise energy levels and healthy emotions. As our body image improves, we also get a significant confidence boost that makes us feel good and look good on the day of the pre-wedding shoot.
5. Take Care of Your Skin 💆🏻♀️
Ladies, leading up to your big days, go for regular facials and do frequent masking to keep your skin in supple glowing condition. In addition, good complexion makes it easier for makeup as well. Definitely, don’t try out new makeup or skin care products at the last minute which has a risk of causing allergic reactions or pimple outbreaks.
Men, you’ll do well to involve your wife-to-be in taking care of your skin too! Couples doing facials can be a great bonding experience. Who knows, you might just get hooked :)
6. Be Well-groomed 💇🏻♀️
When it comes to grooming, you might want to move dates around a bit to align with days of photos shoots.
Wedding photography also generally tend to feature the bride and groom’s hands (ladies you’ll get to show off that huge diamond ring!), so we definitely recommend a manicure. Depending on the theme of the shoot, your feet might get featured as well so you might just want to add on a pedicure too!
Saving a manly stubble? It might be wise to take a few photos prior and have that conversation if this is the look both of you wish to memorialise.

10 Tips to Avoid Becoming Bridezilla (Calming your Wedding Day Nerves)
Having wedding jitters? 😰
You are not alone!
Be it during the lead-up to or on your actual wedding day, you must first know that there are many other brides who, just like you, have encountered similar experiences.
Good news: you don't need to face it alone. 😇
With hundreds of weddings under our belt, we've rounded up some big tips from brides and grooms alike. Lets sooth those anxious wedding day feels together!
1. List down your concerns
Last minute change in food selection or crying babies? Rank them according to how major or minor they are. For those that are out of your control (at the present moment or at all), hold it with a loose hand. Concern over your wedding photographer? Read on how to choose one! Keep your focus on the things that can be dealt with earlier so that you can check them off the list. Shorter list, lesser worries.
2. Rely on professional help
To put things into perspective, as wedding photographers, we attend minimally 1 wedding every week - that's 52 weddings a year. 😳
From families and friends so high you thought they were going to bring the house down, to a blessed union across diverse cultures and traditions, we've seen them all, both key moments and behind the scenes.
So trust us when we say it goes a long way to get to know your photographer. 😉 We're here to make your wedding day as memorable as possible. Ask us and we are more than willing to share our experiences and tips with you.
3. Surround yourself with your loved ones
"Surround yourself with positive people and you'll be a positive person." - Kellie Pickler. Many times, such people can be found in our close family and friends. They are the ones who believe in you, cheer you on, and lift you up when you feel down or stressed out. Be around them, catch their positive spirit, and be encouraged!
4. Treat your bridesmaids & groomsmen well
These are the people you can count on, your lifelong bonds. Lending their professional strength, they take the place of a wedding planner to bring order to the chaos. Let them know how appreciative you are of them by taking them out for meals or doing activities. Who knows, you might also have a ton of fun matchmaking them! And oh, remember to thank them during your speech too.
5. Disliking the planning process doesn't make you are a bad partner
There! I said it. I believe many brides (and/or grooms!) have to hear this: not liking the planning process does not make you a horrible, ungrateful, <insert negative adjective> partner.
From the major processes to the littlest things, every detail adds up to a perfect wedding. However, being put in the limelight and needing to make a quick and good decision or state your opinion is always a tough spot to be in. And for someone who feels the nerves, most likely you are already someone who plans ahead.

In such cases, communicate, show empathy, and most of all, cut yourself some slack. Remember: there aren't perfect weddings, but there are fun and memorable weddings.
Better yet, bring along someone whom you trust and knows you well enough to help you out!
6. Take time off, pamper yourself
When you feel overwhelmed in the midst of wedding planning, take time off to relax. Look at the bigger picture and remind yourself to have fun in the process. Get a massage, hang out with your friends, or even go for a ride with your family. Look through your pre-wedding photographs if you have taken them. If not, you can take a look at some here. Remind yourself of the positive emotions. Laugh at the little conflicts and take it easy on yourself.
7. Productivity apps to the rescue!
Checklists and calendar apps, mind you, are not just great for work.
With useful tools such as the Google Calendar or couple apps such as Between, it will be difficult to miss out on something important if you have locked them in.
Special highlight to couple app Between! (Not sponsored, but we welcome it!)
3 things we love about this app:
1. Create & document special events and memorable dates, in a photo journal style
2. Mark out dates memorable to the both of you with a countdown timer
3. Specific events are synchronised live on both you and your partner's app
From tracing back special dates to pulling out that oh-so-special photo for decoration, this apps got you fully covered.
8. Reassure your future spouse
Often when you are under stress or anxiety, your behaviour and actions might cause unintentional hurt to your partner. A harsh word or an unpleasant tone can dampen moods and strain your relationship overtime if you are not aware of it. Make an attempt to reassure your partner that your current frustration does not equate to being unhappy about marriage. Tell them: “I am feeling agitated right now, but remember I still love you. Could you get me my favourite snack please?”
9. Use Pinterest for mood boarding your perfect wedding setup
This should be an open secret: Pinterest is the ultimate mood boarding platform.
Not sure where to start your wedding planning? With an abundance of free to use creative ideas, pin down dreamy or rustic decor inspirations or styling ideas to your heart's content! This can range from wedding decorations to makeup looks and even the types of food and gifts! Pinterest will definitely help you get the ball rolling.
10. Have a positive expectation of good
The famous saying goes, “Begin with the end in mind.” Expect good and do not focus on the negative. By believing that things will turn out well beforehand, half the battle is already won. Keep your mind on thoughts that are positive, uplifting, and delightful. Good things will come your way!
Despite feeling your present strong emotions, let me assure you that you are doing great. Believe me, you will love and enjoy your wedding day and the exciting days to come.

How To Choose A Wedding Photographer
If you are reading this, I am pretty sure you are on a quest to find the right wedding photographer. I totally understand! How can one get to that stage of making a sure decision on a wedding photographer - someone whom you will entrust in capturing your most significant moments? Here are some guiding tips for you.
Step 1: Research, research, research
Not all of us are confident in how we want our pre wedding or actual day photographs to look like. Rustic? Classy? Airy? Moody? However that aside, I am sure that all of us have some sort of image in our heads of how we desire for it to be.
This is where you will have to do some homework. Grab a cup of coffee, open your laptop, and start researching the types of photographs you want to remember. Take screenshots of them and make a collage.
Show them to your potential wedding photographers to search for a suitable fit between what you want and what they can offer. After all, we - as much as we want to - cannot read your mind. Making clear your expectations from the start will help you ease the whole process. For this, you will first need to nail down the type of shots you want.
Step 2: Compare wedding packages
Typically, a wedding held in Singapore can range from $30,000 to $100,000 depending on how extravagant of an event the couple decides to plan for. One tip to note when comparing wedding packages is not to cross off a package based on price-point first, but determine what is included in the package.
From there, you are able to shortlist or add on what is necessary for you. Things like the number of hours, hi-res JPGs, albums, pre wedding shoot, can either be included in the package or might cost you extra money.
Go into the details and decide what is of more value to you! Some people prefer to cut down on the photo albums and go for additional hours of shoot, while others prefer having a video instead. You can also check out some of our wedding videography here!
Step 3: Get to know the photographer
After you have shortlisted a list of potential wedding photographers that are able to meet your expectations, it is time to get to know them for them. Think about it. This will be the person who captures your precious and intimate moments with your partner, your family, and your loved ones. It is only right if you find a photographer you are comfortable with.
Take time out with your partner to get to know each of them, look at more of their work, and discuss the direction of your wedding. Assess whether your personalities mesh.
In addition, go online and read reviews about them. See what other customers are saying about them. Studies have shown that we trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations, and we encourage you to do so. This will aid you in making a more informed decision.
Step 4: Delivery and post-production
After all the wedding emotions, vibes, and excitement has calmed, it is only normal to be eager to see how the memories were documented. Thus, you can manage expectations by asking your wedding photographer about their delivery turnaround time during your pre wedding meetups.
Commonly, it can range from 6 - 9 weeks. Some wedding photographers require a longer time, but that does not necessarily mean that they are incompetent. Faster do not equate to better photos. Often, these are talented photographers who are able to deliver quality work and are highly packed with other wedding shoots as well.
Some potential questions you could ask are:
Does the coverage need to be continuous?
What rights does your photographer have over the images?
Will you be getting hi-res JPGs?
How many images should you expect?
Are albums part of the package?
Now with all of these in mind, go out there and choose someone suitable for you and your future spouse. Ultimately, remember to enjoy the process and have fun!
